This oak entryway table was my first attempt at this type of joinery. It uses staked mortise-and-tenon construction -- so basically, a stake banged into a hole. It was a bit of a humbling exercise but I'll be using this technique again. The top surface teeters on the four legs with a carved and painted detail on an odd leg.
